This one came together naturally.
Forged by Nguyên in Hanoi, the blade leans into that darker, more subdued look — a deep blackened finish with layered Damascus quietly moving underneath. The upper section keeps that raw, brut-forged texture, while the lower portion catches just enough light to add contrast without breaking the tone. It’s the kind of blade that reveals more the longer you look at it.
At the core, 52100 carbon steel. Straightforward, proven, and reliable. It takes a very clean edge, holds it well, and feels solid on the board. Thin behind the edge, smooth through product, and consistent from heel to tip — exactly what you want in a knife that’s meant to be used, not just admired.
We went in a different direction with the handle. Amboyna burl brings a lot of life into the piece — deep, flowing grain with natural variation that shifts depending on the light. It’s paired with a pearly white ferrule and tip, creating a contrast that’s crisp without feeling forced. It lightens the overall feel of the knife while still keeping everything balanced.
More refined. More composed. Built in-house with attention to how everything connects — the balance point, the height at the heel, the transition in hand. Nothing feels out of place.
