I took this blade and assembled it on a fresh handle here at the shop. Something about this one just clicked right away — I think it’s the pine cone set inside the epoxy, paired with that ultra-transparent tip. The way the swirls move through the handle almost mirrors the Damascus patterns on the blade… it all flows together in a way that feels intentional, not forced.
A true 1 of 1 — once it’s gone, that’s it.
The blade, fully hand-forged in Japan by Nigara Hamono — and no two are alike. This is the kind of piece you almost never see twice… a genuine rare piece built for someone who wants something rare, not just different.
The Irodori Series lives right at that intersection of craftsmanship and individuality. At its core is Aogami Blue #2 carbon steel — known for taking an incredibly fine, aggressive edge and holding it. It sharpens beautifully, performs at a high level, and delivers that raw, precise cutting feel that only a well-treated carbon can give.
But what makes this piece stand out goes well beyond the core.
The blade features a dark Kurozome finish layered over hand-forged Rainbow Damascus. You’ll see tones of grey, black, and bronze moving through the steel — not just on the surface, but with real depth. It shifts with the light, giving the blade a presence that’s hard to capture in photos.
Then there’s the spine — fully exposed from heel to tip, revealing the Damascus layers in a way you almost never see. It turns the construction itself into part of the design. Raw, intentional, clean.
The grind follows that same mindset: thicker at the spine, tapering down into a thin, precise edge that moves effortlessly through product. It has that solid forged feel in hand, but with the control and responsiveness you expect from a high-end Japanese blade.
This isn’t just another knife. It’s a fully hand-forged piece with real character — built for someone who understands both performance and rarity.
